Your First Piercing

Getting your first piercing can feel a little scary, and that’s totally okay. At Piercing Remedy, we take the time to guide you through the process with care, patience, and no pressure.

We will talk you through everything, help you choose the right jewellery, and make sure you feel safe and confident from start to finish. It’s your first step, and we’ll make sure it’s a great one.

The most common question we get is "does it hurt?"

The answer is different for everyone and depends on where you're getting pierced. Some people feel a quick pinch, while for others it's a bit more intense. Either way, it's over quickly, and with the right aftercare any discomfort should settle soon.

Our advice for people getting their first piercing is:

  • Eat something beforehand. A light meal and a glass of water an hour or two before your appointment helps keep you from feeling light-headed.

  • Skip the alcohol. Avoid drinking for at least 24 hours before your piercing, as it can increase bleeding and swelling.

  • Choose quality jewellery. Titanium gives your piercing the best start and reduces the chance of irritation.

  • Hands off! Try not to touch, twist or fiddle with your new piercing. It heals best when left alone.

  • Keep it clean. Follow the aftercare routine we give you, usually a gentle sterile saline rinse once or twice a day.

  • Be patient with healing. Every piercing heals at its own pace, from a couple of months to a year, so don't rush to change your jewellery.

  • Come back for a check up. We'll let you know when it's time to downsize your jewellery for a comfortable, better fit.
